Description Christmas with the Gaskells by Anthony Burton and Diane Duffy focuses on how Elizabeth and her family celebrated Christmas. In Victorian England the celebration of Christmas surged, and Elizabeth herself wrote several heart-warming stories depicting the festive season.  This publication gathers together everything we have found out about her experience of Christmas observances: carols, turkeys, Christmas trees, and family parties. The authors of this publication are members of The Committee of the Gaskell Society and volunteer at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House. Published by the Gaskell Society.
